So in the workshop this week we have had David our Computer Science Major building an NDI D-Bot 3D printer with a few David type modifications.

This little baby won’t be using a cantilevered build plate, as in many other printer systems, but rather a four lead screw system of his own design.

Four screws… but will the stepper be able to handle the load?

David believes that four lead screws will solve the problem of flexing build plate seen in other printers he has used. He read in several reviews that earlier versions seemed to have stability problems due to the one lead screw supported with two linear guide rails.

David is hoping that this modification will address the issue encounter with the workshop Makerbot Replicator Dual Original’s flexible build plate.
